Vestibular Therapy
Relief from dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders
Vestibular therapy at One Stop Rehab is specialized physical therapy for dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, and balance problems. We use a personalized evaluation and targeted exercises to help you move more confidently, reduce symptoms, and return to daily activities with less fear of falling.
Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based approach that can address dizziness, gaze instability, imbalance, and fall risk related to vestibular disorders.
We can help with
- Vertigo or spinning sensations
- Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
- Dizziness with head movements, rolling in bed, looking up, or bending down
- Balance problems or repeated falls
- Inner-ear disorders
- Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis
- Post-concussion dizziness or imbalance
- Vestibular migraine-related symptoms
- Ménière’s disease-related balance concerns
- Unsteadiness while walking in busy stores, crowds, dark environments, or uneven surfaces
- Motion sensitivity or visual sensitivity
What patients can expect
Your first visit
- A detailed review of your symptoms, medical history, and triggers
- An assessment of balance, walking pattern, eye movements, strength, and fall risk
- Positional testing, when appropriate, to help determine whether BPPV is contributing to your dizziness
Your treatment plan
Your plan may include:
- Canalith-repositioning maneuvers for BPPV, such as the Epley maneuver
- Gaze-stabilization exercises to improve visual focus during head movement
- Habituation exercises to gradually reduce motion sensitivity
- Balance and gait training
- Strengthening and mobility exercises
- Fall-prevention education
- Activity and symptom-management strategies
- A safe home exercise program
Vestibular programs often include repositioning maneuvers for BPPV, gaze-stability training, habituation work, balance retraining, and home exercises.
How Vestibular Therapy Helps
The vestibular system involves the inner ear, eyes, brain, and body-position sensors working together to keep you oriented and balanced. When these signals do not match, you may feel dizzy, off balance, nauseated, or unsteady.
Therapy carefully challenges the system in a safe, controlled way so the brain can improve how it uses visual, inner-ear, and body-position information. The goal is not simply to avoid movements that cause dizziness—it is to help you regain confidence with the movements and environments that matter in everyday life.
When to Seek Medical Care
Dizziness can have many causes. Seek urgent medical care for dizziness accompanied by new weakness or numbness, facial droop, trouble speaking, chest pain, severe headache, fainting, sudden vision changes, or a sudden inability to walk safely.
